Eugene de Blaas' The Rose

Meaning: “Rosewater”
Gender: Female
Pronunciation: JOO-lehp
Origin: Persian
Other forms of the name: Julip, Julepp.

After reading about this name over on Marginamia, I just had to profile it!

Julep goes all the way back to Chaucer’s English, Old French and Latin where it meant “sugar syrup”. It came from the Persian word “Gulab” which meant “rosewater”. Today it is probably best known because of the Mint Julep, an alcoholic beverage that is a staple in the South. I just love the meaning of Julep and I think it would make an absolutely adorable name!
